If you have yet to visit the website Collectors Weekly, go now because it is packed with fascinating material (as well as links to eBay listings) for all sorts of vintage clothing and accessories.
Two of our favorite new additions to the site are interviews with experts on purses and high heels...both delicious topics, in our opinion. For starters, spend a few minutes with handbag aficionado Abigail Rutherford, of the Chicago auction house Leslie Hindman. Rutherford's appreciation for a great purse dates to her childhood, and now she has a job that allows her to see the finest pieces from Chanel, Hermes, Gucci and other valued names in leathergoods. Do check her out, even if your budget leans more toward the likes of a vintage Carlos Falchi (another Rutherford fave) or just a nice snake clutch or gator box bag without a notable name.
When it comes to the subject of footwear, Elizabeth Semmelhack of Toronto's Bata Shoe Museum explores the subject of "Sex, Power and High Heels." Once you see the photograph of tangerine Roger Viviers, you will be hooked.
Collectors Weekly also has another new feature we love: "Show & Tell." As the name suggests, the site allows collectors—as well as non-collectors passionate about an unusual vintage item in their possession—to share their wares. Scanning the photographs is like eating Good & Plenty or Hot Tamales; you can never stop with just a handful!

Alligators, Old Mink & New Money, One Woman's Adventures in Vintage Clothing was written by sisters Alison and Melissa Houtte and is available in the U.S. and Canada in both hardback (top; William Morrow/Harper Collins) and paperback (Avon Trade).
You can also buy the UK edition (Orion Publishing) in hardback in England, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. Orion's paperback edition (below) is also now on sale.
Great reads on fashion. Thanks for sharing.
